Prop Account Leverage: A Setting Change Does Not Double the Position
Changing a leverage setting and changing a position are different events. Preserve quantity and account movements before concluding that exposure or total funds changed. A smaller collateral figure alone does not create profit or extra evaluation allowance.

Separate the position and collateral records
For a fictional linear example, two units at a supplied 5,000 quote units give notional 10,000. Under a simplified notional-divided-by-leverage convention, a setting of 5 implies 2,000 collateral; a setting of 10 implies 1,000.
This is a mathematical comparison of hypothetical settings, not a statement that HashHedge offers 10-times leverage or uses this complete margin model. Actual availability, margin tiers and account definitions need the selected product’s current specification.
Keep the unchanged quantities visible
If there are no fills, charges or transfers, the supplied position remains two units and its notional remains 10,000 at that price. A setting change alone does not double the quantity. A report should preserve the setting event separately from a new execution.
Suppose the complete teaching ledger has total funds 10,000 and floating result minus 100. Combined equity is 9,900 under those assumptions at either setting. The model does not calculate liquidation or incorporate other assets, liabilities or positions.
| Record | Hypothetical setting 5 | Hypothetical setting 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | 2 | 2 |
| Notional at supplied price | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Simplified collateral | 2,000 | 1,000 |
| Funds 10,000 plus floating −100 | Equity 9,900 | Equity 9,900 |
Review evaluation headroom from account evidence
HashHedge’s daily-loss explanation uses balance and floating result. A collateral release is not automatically a change in that contractual calculation. For a Canadian report, original-asset amounts and any explicit CAD conversion also remain separate.
The related resource preserves this site’s earlier leverage ledger. The optional HashHedge link offers current programme details. No leverage configuration is changed, and the teaching comparison is not advice to increase exposure or a technique to avoid an evaluation limit.
